I agree the Tiller Clutch is a good design. However, their installation instructions are misleading. Make sure you test the layout before you drill holes. My tests with what I assumed would be acceptable anchor points for the control line showed how critical they were. With the line tensioned with the tiller centered, in some cases the control line would tighten excessively when the tiller was swung to the side, restricting the range of the tiller. In other cases, the line would go slack, making the clutch moot. If you just want to lock the tiller centered amidships, no problem. But if you want to lock the tiller off center, make sure the line is run to allow this.
