Pulpit anchor mounting: Strong enough?

Hello CPYOA.  First post. About two months ago I bought my 1976 CP16.  I have a litany if questions and upgrades I want to do but wanted to ask what my anchor mounting options are.  It's a 76 so no bowsprit.  I'm debating between bolting a metal anchor roller next to the forestay tang verse hanging an anchor off the pulpit with one of those mounts that attaches to railings.  Is the pulpit strong enough to support a 10-12 lb anchor or am I asking for the pulpit deck joints to be loosened and weakened?

I'm leaning towards the pulpit hanger because it means no new holes need to be drilled on the deck.  Thoughts?

If the pulpit is in good shape it should be ok.  Early models had aluminum pulpits that get loose over time & can be wobbly (sometimes re-riveting them helps).

Thanks Mike. My plan would be to only mount it there when not in use.  I'd attach the rode to the trailer bow eye when anchoring.

It's easier to use the cleat & fairleads on the bow when anchoring.  It allows for easy access for adjustment of the line when needed
