Quick question, were they still making mark 1s in 86? Keith at the sailboat company has one for sale. He told me that it was midyear 86 they switched to the Mark 2s, I thought it was 84. Thx

I don't know, but I would be hesitant to question Keith on Com-Pac facts. If you want a good 16, make Keith an offer on my '83 he has listed. It's an MI, but has lots of upgrades!

Yeah, that's why I thought it was weird and made me question myself. Keith is an encyclopedia of Cp16. Yeah, I'm trying to make some time to drive up to see your boat too next month. Anything you want to fill me in on yours? Thx

I think 1986 was a crossover year. Sailing Texas has quite a photo gallery of CP-16s. Most '86s are without the bow sprit. The Mark 1 was a 3/4 fractional rig. The Mark II and beyond were 7/8 with a bow sprit of 11 inches?? The increase in fore triangle was to improve balance in the sail plan. The 1986 may be 7/8 rig.
The bow pulpit on Mark II and beyond is stainless vs. aluminum.
The '83 on Keith's yard looks to have an after market sprit and an pulpit extension of the pulpit. The legacy mast must be taller than the 16  since the Legacy sail area is listed at 130sf.
$UM FUN TOO

Yeah that 83 is Mhardys boat. I was referring to the 86 on the website. Thx about the sailing Texas pics.

It does run a much larger sail area, I looked on sailboatdata for a c16 and its 94sf, don't know what Mk that is, the picture is at least a mk2

The legacy main is large and it runs a 7/8 rig. The foot of the main runs almost to the transom. I wonder if its some sort of contraption between a mk1 main and a 7/8 jib setup... I wonder how that sails, I've heard not balanced good when you put a mk1 main on a mk2 or a mk1 with a mk2 7/8 conversion...
