I just bought my 1986 model Com Pac 16 -II a few weeks ago.  I want to use my Minn Kota 40 lb thrust trolling motor with the battery located forward.  Has anyone done this?  I bought some 8AWG paired wire to run from the battery to the aft compartment.  I understand I am to have a 50 amp breaker for this set up.  What I am having difficulty with is finding appropriate connectors so I can quick disconnect the boat in the rear to the existing wire. Anyone done this and have pictures or references to the supplies you used?

Marinco has a 70 amp plug and receptacle set for this purpose. At West Marine the numbers are:
Model # 17950122 | Mfg # 12VCPS3 | UPC # 93344062278

My 21' Century center console has the opposite setup: battery aft and trolling motor forward.

I've done this.  Link to what I used through the transom is here: http://cpyoa.geekworkshosting.com/forum/index.php?topic=10019.msg77646#msg77646

Since the time I posted that, I have run large gauge wires (I'd have to look it up) permanently connected to this receptacle, and run to my battery which is installed in front of the compression post.  I keep the battery in a case with the appropriate breaker built-in (shown in some other posts).  The motor connection is very robust, quick, and secure.  I'll have to check if I have a close-up photo.  I do have to admit that the clearance within the top of the transom is tight... I used ring clips at the end of the wire and there was not a lot of room to get a wrench on the nuts.

Found a pic of the thru-hull installed.

I have a similar set up in my 15' daysailer using 4 gauge.  Use the heaviest wire you can to keep the heat from resistance down
