...of all the spiders and dirt daubers living on my boat.  Left a can out for them to contribute to the dock fee, it was due Tuesday.  Can was empty so eviction notices were sent out.  Found out where the spiders were hiding, in that little gap between the rub rail and the hull, bottom of the rub rail.  They avoided my periodic pressure washing by crawling in there.  Went out to the only shallow place on my lake where I can stand up with the boat in the water and gently cleaned the bottom and evicted about thirty spiders from that space.

After a year I only had growth at the waterline, just a few patches from the chine to the keel and nothing on the keel.  Blue Water Marine SCS Copper Guard 45 with slime control.  Works well, I can get three years out of it with an annual in water gentle cleaning.  I'm sure it's days may be numbered being a solvent based, copper rich ablative.

Brackish,

I have been using Pettit's Hydrocoat because it works fine and the water solvent is great to work with. It is however getting pretty expensive, so I looked at Blue Water paints for a similar product. The Blue Water web site includes a paint they call Aqua Shield which is a water solvent ablative. When I went to the local Blue Water dealer, they had no idea of what I was referring to. Having to special order a product meant that they would charge MSRP without there everyday discount. So I was back in the same price range as the Pettit product.

Has anyone used the Blue Water Aqua Shield?
