My (very) Amateur Documentary and Who Wants to Buy a BOAT!?!

Happy holidays everyone,

I finally had a few days to put together all of my pictures documenting my CP16 project.
I have quietly been reading this forum for years and I would like to sincerely thank everyone who has shared their knowledge and expertise on the site.

This project was a ton of fun and a great learning experience. I recently had a baby, moved out of NYC (I have been sailing and storing my boats on Long Island for years), and bought a house... guess what's next? Yeap, selling a few boats.

It's a bummer, but I going to move onto a house project that might take the cake for the biggest project I have ever jumped into.  I'll gladly listen to anyone's advice on that topic too

I'm going to put Kpeting up on Craigslist right after the holiday.  Does anyone want to chime in a price they think would be fair?

I am thinking around 4k...Neptune knows that between the Epifanes paint, the KiwiGrip, Interlux primer and paint, the West Systems epoxy, the rebuilt trailer, the G10, all the New England Ropes Sta-Set, and the 3 new sails I may be taking a loss, BUT I am just more interested in someone giving her a good home.

I think you have a good handle on the market with a target of $4k.  For a Craiglist offer, I would even suggest $4,500. And expect some negotiation. 

I have seen selling price rise in 2017 on CP 16, in good shape, and yours certainly qualifies as "fully restored".

There is also a Sailboat Listing that has a more national view, and may help.  I think it is free.

I think that's more than fair. By the way, your rudder project resembled mine closely...only difference is that I sheathed mine in 3mm okueme plywood and put a hardwood leading edge on. The boat looks great!!

Tim, i can not even begin to suggest what is the best path to take, but i can say with assurance that what seemed to be the logical thing to do and sell our first 16 decades ago when we started careers, family, and bought a small farm, was in retrospect a mistake. We missed the opportunity to take our son sailing while he was a young child and have it be part of his life.

It also tugged at me for well over 25 years and now we are playing catch up, and doing a pretty good job of it! I won't miss the opportunity with my grandson.

Mas, very wise words. I'm just juggling a few too many projects right now and I would hate to see Kpeting sitting neglected on the hard. I'm a firm believer in the rolling stones not gathering moss theory. (This is also why I'm more concerned about getting the boat into someone's hands that is going to use it rather than the price I'll fetch for her.) Plus when my daughter is old enough to sail she'll also be big enough for a sailboat project, right?
And what better way to cultivate ownership over this hobby than building your own boat...plus I still own two fishing boats and will "torture" her the same way my father did to me and keep her out to sea against her will. Haha.
Oh yeah, suffering through a hobby is the second best way to create ownership.

TG, I've moved out of NY altogether and up to western MA where my family still is. This kid needed some grandparents and cousins. I will miss LI though and especially Glen Cove where I kept my boats. Luckily I can still hit saltwater in less than an hour and half.
