Newbie here, the extent of my sailing experience has been in Sunfish regatta's with the Lake St. Louis Sailing Club.  I have been given a sorry-looking Com-Pac 16 that will be my winter project.  Pic's to follow once I drag the sorry little beastie home.  Thanks for having me!

Cricket Crew

Greetings Newbie ... AJ here ~ another Newbie, from Coastal NC!
Just brought 'Cricket' (CP16) home, a rescued yard ornament. But Hey, at least her former owner won't have to mow around her anymore. She came complete with grapefruit size -- active -- wasp nests and moss/weeds growing in her laz hatch and cockpit!
She has moderate keel damage, prior to my purchase she was towed/moved loose on her trailer with dry rotted rollers. The front roller cracked and the front of her keel rested on the bare spindle! OUCH! Also, she shows freeze/thaw cracks from filling with water and the concrete ballast is exposed in the cabin. Yeah... a real project.
So now my first tack is to focus on keel repair !!
My hull number is ABV000600675 ~ I interpret that she is the 60th boat built in June of '75.
I think it's great that this forum exist with this number of users...
a great source for us newbies to learn from ...

welcome aboard newbies, com-pac owners are a special breed. You have been given the challange of bringing a special little boat back to life! All your hard work will be rewarded with that first sail. There is a wealth of info on this site and owners who have already been through the resto phase. GOOD LUCK and happy sailing.

Our lakes are tiny( 75 acres and 550 acres), but we can have sailboats up to 24 ft.  There's one more cabin boat regatta next weekend, along with the season-finale Sunfish regatta, although it's getting down to the 30's at night so I suspect it'll be a little brisk.

Just wanted to toot my own horn...we had the banquet to close out the Lake St. Louis Sailing Club season tonight and came home with the following awards:
1. My autistic kiddo got the Sportsman Award for making such an effort to attend club events
2. my chili got 3rd place in the chili cook-off

My HIN is ABV000540675, I take that to mean it was the 54th boat built in June of 75...amazingly close to Cricket Crew's HIN.  My problems just keep multiplying but one way or another I'm going to get this little boat back into sailing condition.

It seems all our boats come from the same era. My NUM1GIN was built july of 75, #63. Seems the oldies are still arround where are the rest of the fleet?
