Considering purchase of 1997 CP16 CB, and would like to have the specifications for this model.  I assume that the ballast is less then on previous models.  Where can I find this information, or can someone send it to me?  Also is there a blue book price for the model?

Hey BBK,
The 16 CB is a 7/8th rig sloop with swept back spreaders.  16'11" LOA, 14' LWL, Beam 6', Draft 18" board up, 40" board down, Disp 1100 Lbs., 450 Lbs. ballast, sail area 120 sqft, mast height above waterline 21'.
The only difference seems is the center board supposedly to help with pointing the boat to windward.  Otherwise nothing different about the basic specs.
Interior - some teak interior trim, but mostly brighter than CP16II because of headliner and fabric covered hull sides.  This model used a fiberglass liner on the cabin top sides instead of wood.
You could sail her all day without using the centerboard and get the feel of a previous model.
No idea on blue book.  has more to do with condition, features added equipment, motivation of seller.  Probably in the range of $3000- $4900.
A CP16II or III would be a great boat too so don't overpay for the center board.  I have heard of problems with the center board, rattling, vibration and maintenance.  Not enough to avoid her, but reason enough not to overpay.

I agree with Marcus . . .My 1990 CP16/3 was made just before the CB version. It sails FINE and I don't have the CB to be concerned about. No looking back to a CB in my opinion. a shoal draft keel is great! The main improvements were the full teak interior with headliner, etc. My boat has all of that and it looks terrific inside.

I bought my boat from a local dealer with a trailer and a late model 4 HP Tohatsu 4 stroke for 5,900. The boat was CLEAN and I felt the price was OK for what I got. Lots of variables re price. I switched to a Tohatsu 3.5 2 stroke (half the weight) got an Idasailor foiled rudder and a roller reefer for the jib. Great boat!!!

If you can get the CB version at a decent price go for it as it is one of the last CP16's made. I am sure it will sail fine with the CB up as stats are the same as my CP16/3.
