About to paint the inside of our cabin , previous owner removed  all the factory teak or liner - so it looks rough. also going to the storage doors of the lazarretts ;
what kind of paint and do I need primer ?
opinions please .

brackish

My boat is relatively new and did not need interior paint except for the inside of the sliding main hatch.  It was that dull gray stock compact paint and was constantly mildewed and dirty.  I wanted something that would look similar in color and gloss to the beadboard headliner that is in the boat.   I painted it with water based gloss white enamel that had a mildew inhibitor.  The kind that is recommended for wet areas like bathrooms.  I did not prime, just cleaned the original painted surface well.  It has held up very well after nearly three seasons.
