Well, I gotta chime in here (big surprise, right).
First, all this stuff about sharks attacking people, sharks eating people and enjoying it is a bunch of bunk. We really don't think you people taste all that good but I do admit that it's fun to catch you and watch you try to get away, all that noise and spashing! Just before we bite, we usually laugh, thinking that maybe you should stay on land! Even the most graceful of you don't swim all that well.
The problem, as I see it, is you humans are always seeing things from your limited perspective. I mean you have been eating seafood for thousands of years and seeing absolutely nothing wrong with it. So a while back, at one of our larger North Atlantic Shark conventions, this came up and we collectively decided that if you're in the water, you're on the menu! Simple. See how easy it is to understand from our perspective? I know that we've been called everything from evil to maneaters with no conscience but really, once you get to know us, we're ok. We don't have great eyesight so you must forgive us when we happen to make a bad call and bite a child- it's hard to distinguish until we actually get a taste.
Most of you taste ok but if you look at the stats, you'll find that most of our "attacks" (we really find that word so distasteful) occur in warmer climates. The people taste a lot better and they usually look great too. It's all about the presentation. A closer look at the stats will also reveal that we rarely have an encounter with politicians and lawyers. They almost always have this rotten taste and I personally would rather travel thousands of miles for my next meal than eat one of those. Ug!
By the way, and you know this, that we are sleek and graceful swimmers and we really appreciate the same qualities in a sailboat, so we really like the looks of your Compac 23's from underneath. You never get to see that view of your boats but take it from me, they 23's underbody is as sexy as they are above the waterline. You'll notice we've never attacked a Compac sailboat...there's a reason for that. Let's just call it professional courtesy.
Ok..gotta go now. I'm currently way off the coast of Delaware and I have a lot of water to cover today. I know you are tracking me (geez, a transmitter on my fin, how could I miss that) so I enjoy being the center of attention sometimes. I really had a great time sneaking into the Barnegat Bay a while back...really freaked a few people out! What fun! That's where I first met Bob23- he was out rowing when I came swimming by. Poor guy- I scared the crap out of him, almost literally. Since that first encounter, we've become good friends and I'm looking forward to seeing him again when he rows to the horizon this summer.
  Best to you,

My my Mary Lee, according to your tracking pings you are very well traveled! Better than me!

Yup, just another one of those wonderful facets of sailing which becomes almost fanatical with the progression of cabin fever. Hold on maties warm weather is just around the corner, then the shark fantasy will give way to the sobering task of bottom paint. Can you almost feel the motion of the boat?

Mostly sailors should be concerned about loan sharks. They will eat the fun right out of sailing!

yeah Ron, it sounds like Bo23 has gotten a little fishy on us! Seems to think he is channeling a shark named Mary Lee who, if you do check the tracking on her, seems to get around! A lot of it Bluewater too. Well there back on topic!

Channeling sharks is just one of the many powers of the almighty Bob23!  Be afraid, Be very afraid.  Tremble before the Bob!
