That is one of our members here. Trying to remember his handle.  He built the gaff rig himself.

That's pretty cool. Keith Scott has made a 23 like that also. His purpose was to have a shorter mast, but larger sail with the gaff being something you could lower to get under a bridge. He also put the mastender on several of the sloop Com-pacs, and at least one Slipper 17 (my old one).

I've thought about the mastender for my 23, but so far, I have only pulled her to the yard when there was a hurricane coming. I may just keep it like it is, and get help when I need to lower the mast.

I got to enjoy the gaff rig on my Suncat, and would have no qualms about having another gaffer, although you have twice the hardware.
