I have a Compac 16 1979 vintage. I have fixed just about everything.  Finally, the motor mount. It would go down with ease but staying up was another matter.  Hutchins tells me the parts are unavailable. I purchased from Ace Hardware one 3" hitchpin and one piece of 12 stainless chain. Total of about $8.

First I placed in the upright position the mount. Then I drilled a 3/8 hole all the way through the arms of the mount. Then I pushed the hitch pin through. It has a locking ball that makes it easy to push in but a little harder to pull out Perfect!

Hope that hitch pin is attached to the boat with a light lanyard to prevent its loss in the briny deep!

Learned the value of lanyards attached to small things, that easily slip out of hands, the hard way many years ago.

Yep it is attached! The 12" chain did the trick. I couldn't figure out how to post pictures.
