Magic tilt trailer bearings

Boat came direct from Com-PAC and drive checked tire inflation beforehand.  Hub is stamped made in China.  Tire has the logo WD on it...doesn't say made in anywhere, so I presume US, but don't know.

Somewhere on the serial number of the tire is the date of manufacture. I don't remember how to read it but I suppose you could google it and find out. Some of the el cheapo tire dealers are selling their tires as "new" and indeed have not been used before. I read somewhere that some of these tires were actually 5 years old...but never mounted. Good to know and might explain your tread separation.

If the rubber tread peels off the tire's cartage then I'm guessing the inflation is too low. The tire became hot and the tread let go. It's not the tire/rim diameter that's important. It's the load rating.

Side Bar: Many years ago I installed a paint line for a company that refurbished the interim 'bogie' wheels for tracked vehicles [military tanks] that support the treads between the drive and idler sprockets. The bogie wheels came in for rebuild and rubber retread starting with a day or so in a Wheel-A-Brader that stripped off the old rubber from the forged wheels before new rubber was applied.

All the new rubber was held in a steam heated room at 160 deg F. to help with the molding process. Once new rubber was fitted the wheels were painted.
