I have an old Horizon depth meter with numerous settings for anchor/shallow alarm, and draft settings, but it is ancient, dim lite, and hard to understand re-calibration,,
also , I just noticed over the winter that my old contest compass has lost fluid on the sphere ..? Now what ?
Love to find a place where I might buy gently used stuff - that is not a quarter century old ,or sold by Amazon/ebay pawn shop types with questionable
      honesty.
Any places / persons out there you guys can send a me a number to ?
Also -- dont have brakes on trailer!
; previous owner didnt bother, launched in Lake St. Clair form a Gross Point marina.

I've always wanted to check out nautical consignment shops but there are none in my area. I don't know where you are located but I think there is at least one in Rhode Island. On second thought, that'd be a bad place for me: I'd have to give my wallet to my wife to avoid plummeting into financial ruin.

You can likely get the compass repaired. I had to do that with my Ritchie compass as it had also lost its fluid.

You have no idea how true this is........ plus you would easily be lost for the day in there. I go in for "just five minutes" and come out hours later pretty regularly.

I have two old Standard Horizon indicators that came on my boat. They work, but not really, since the crazing on the glass/plastic is so bad that they are unreadable unless you really stare at them for a while. I took them apart to see if I could fix them, but alas, no go.

I wanted to find the same components since the transducer and speed indicator are a hassle to mess with not to mention the wiring, etc. I started searching on Craigslist and eBay. I found a single component replacement that has the same connectors. This MD-50 replaces the speed and depth gauges. I paid $24 plus $12 shipping for it. It was "New Old Stock" so it's never been used before. I will glass over the unused hole. The only potential fly in the ointment might be if the gauge doesn't work but I doubt that will be the case since it came wrapped in plastic.

The new indicator is on the left (of course):

I had to watch eBay for about six weeks until this one came up. Be patient and you might find what you need.

PS  Before I purchased this I did buy a Standard Horizon DS50 depth meter on eBay as well but for more ($40 plus $15 shipping). It has a small scratch on the face but I think it's probably never been used. If that's what you are looking for, PM me and I can send you the details. I will sell this one on eBay myself if I don't hear from you.
