Pictures of bottom paint and jacking boat up

I finished bottom painting today and I am waiting for it to dry.  I jacked the boat up with two jacks.  Attached are some pictures of the process.

I did use 1 2x6 boat.  I cut two pieces that were 11 3/4" long to use as pads for the jacks.  I did the same to a 2x4 to put under the 2x6.  I then set the jacks on the long 2x6.  I made a few small 2x4 blocks to put between the hull and the boards for safety and to steady the boat.

Wow, your ideas on using plain old 2x6 and scissor jacks that I already own (in my 2 cars) saved me lots of time and money!

I'm about to bottom paint for the first time, and had visions of buying expensive hydraulic car or bottle jacks, and having the boat fall over on top of me while teetering on the skinny keel while floating above the bunks.

Thanks for the ideas and great pictures!

A few others on the board gave me the idea.  I think that others were thinking of taking pictures as well, mine just went up first.

I put a second coat on the bottom while it was jacked up so it looks better than the pictures.

The 2x4 blocks were actually there for safety.  Since I was sitting on the ground I could move the boat side to side with a little pressure.  I put those blocks there as a safety thing.

I think that I am going in the water soon.  I have most of my spring work done.  After I am in I will rig up the new solar panel and plug it into the charge inverter.  100 watts of solar through a semi-flexible solar panel.  I have a Genasun solar charge controller.

I thought of bottle jacks too.  This worked better because there was more surface area on these jacks.
