Swim platform info

As we (wife & I ) get a little older it seems to get harder to get back into the Compac after swimming. I see people with fold down swim steps and just don't think they work well on our boats (hang below the bottom of the boat). Does anyone have a wood platform they use on the back of your boat as a step? Looking for something that I could attach to the stern like a ski boat?
