Universal M12 air bleed question

Greetings.

I recently changed the fuel filter on the M12. There is air in the system or is entering. Engine starts and runs approx. 30-35 seconds and stops. Engine manual says to bleed the injection pump after bleeding the fuel filter which I did several times. My question is: the injection pump does not appear to have a bleed nut or fitting. There may be a cap or something at the bottom of the pump but it doesn't look (to me) like it should be opened.

If someone has some experience bleeding an M12 fuel line after filter change, could you provide any tips?

Thank you.

Hey Vigilant:
I'd like to help here but I do not have any pictures of the front of the engine, the manual is on the boat, and our camera is broken.  However, if it is any help I believe that if you follow the fuel line to the first injector on the front of the engine there is a bolt there much the same as the one on the fuel filter that you use for the final bleeding.

I will go to the boat tomorrow  to verify that.  I will also check the manual.  Then I will try to describe it better.

I hope that someone else might have a better description.

I have both the owners manual and the service manual for the M12 through M35 in pdf format.  if anyone would like a copy, email me.

Try installing a squeeze bulb (outboard style) fuel primer between the fuel tank and primary filter.  With this it is easy to bleed all the air out of the fuel lines and filters.

Hey Vigilant:
If you have a Repair Parts Manual, look on page 34, the bleedin' bolt is right under part #7 in the picture, and right above the arrow that shows where part #7 fits.  If you have the owner manual on page 28 it is the stubby looking fixture sticking out to the left and slightly behind the injector pump.  I noted on my engine it iv right under the air filter.

Just came back from the boat where I verified the location.

I try to put a blue paper towel under and mostly around the fitting when I bleed it to keep the fuel from spraying to far.

Hope that this helps.
