Hi Ralph and a very special welcome from another Barnegat Bay NJ 23! I keep my 1985 23/2 "Koinonia" moored in Surf City and regularly sail north into BB or south into Manahawkin Bay. Where do you keep your baby?

My "Mistress" and I sail out of forked river, near the Captains Inn.  I've owned her since 1992.  Only done a few overnights at Tices shoals and a few day trips up to Toms River.  I sail mostly during the week in the evening when there are fewer "nuts" out on the bay.

Ralph:
A friend of mine keeps his Morgan 30 at the state marina. Keep a lookout for the up and coming, not to be missed Barnegat Bay Bash which we've traditionally held at Tice's. I believe there's a thread under events. It's open to both kind of sailors: Compac owners and those who wish they were. Don't know dates yet. It'll be great to meet you.
Unfortunately, my 23 still sits  under her winter cover, patiently awaiting her overworked skipper to complete some last minute details. I usually splash her at Long Key Marina, Waretown hang out at a skip for a few days then head down to her home mooring in Surf City.
Have you owned your 23 long?

Hmm, no mention of the dreaded extortion, I mean initiation fee by Bob23.  Is there a Jersey shore exemption?

Bob23

Careful, Brack. I see there are a few "late" fees that I could levy on you but since your'e also a 23 guy, I mind find it in the kindness of my heart to overlook them. Not sure I'll be so kind to Mr. TG who inciuates that us Garden Staters are mathematically challenged. But he is right- 22 years. I overlooked that.
Of course us Jersey guys look out for each other...anybody got a problem with dat?

Bob,
I hate to be too forward or pushy, but I have been out of Jersey for a year, and you have not refunded my initiation/membership fee. What's up wit dat, hungh? If it don't show up soon, the Redneck Yacht Club is gonna fill your cockpit with empty PBR bottles! Pedro23

Hey ya'll...your refund check is in the mail. Sorry for the confusion. But after the unrefundable administrative fees, prorated membership clause, pre application fees and just general fees that go to feed my rum habit, your refund is only $4.55. Before taxes. There's a mailing fee of $10.00 so you owe me $5.54. But hey, we're freinds so let's just call it even, alright?

Deal!
By now Ralph you may have noticed that more than one of us here are a few fries short of a happy meal. You sure you wanna throw in your lot with us wackos? Ok, then welcome aboard!
Hoping to see you on the bay. If you do a sail-by at Tices, you'll know my 23- she carries a small white riding sail when anchored.

Well takes one to know one ;) My kind of people.  I've had my 23 since 1992 and have had some great times.  I'll keep an eye out for you.  I fly a red "OLD GUYS RULE" flag.

Bob23

Another kindred spirit 23 guy! And, for the record, OLD GUYS DO RULE!!! If we meet up, I usually carry an ample supply of Gosslings Black seal rum, ginger ale (too cheap for real ginger beer) and key lime jiuce. Mix you up a Dark and Stormy?
Bottoms up! Bob23
