Sorry It took me a while to get the images together on a project I did this spring...

I had a two bow frame made at Ameribrands and used their "swivel" mount parts.

I made the top from a 39" wide piece of waterproof non-stretch cloth from Sailrite (two yards made the 6' beam width) and the other part for the genoa track was a Ronstan track eye with stop.  I wanted a shade that I could use and still see the sails... the only premade biminis were 6' long (way too big for my needs).  I do mostly single handing or have one or two people on board and the shorter length works just fine for that application.  And as a bonus... it just fits in the cabin if I snake the frame in front of the compression post (it also folds forward while still mounted and then slides further forward to get out of the way).

Happy Sailing

Dale,

Very nice!   I took the liberty of adding the image tags so's the rest of the lads can see without having to jump back to the gallery.  We should have the new gallery up soon  Most of the images will be pre-loaded,  but we may have to reload our own owner images to retain control, or so's CaptK says.

Thanks... they can click on the link to see the higher res images... I only made them to 1024X768... most of my stuff in the gallery is 600X800.
Also the one with the yellow tag line is page #1.

Kudos to you all for the effort in maintaining this site.... many thanks.

Dale, very nice! a bimini is a must. some people say it rhyming with giminey - but i don't like that. it should rhyme with bikini. bikini! BIKINI!

now, i've gone and searched through all your postings, and i hate to change the subject, but i just hafta ask you about your seat cushions:

when you cut those sleeping bag mats to fit the seats, what did you use to cut it so cleanly? is it blue all the way through, or white inside? did you glue it down?

thanks for all the tips & pics! genius work.

Hi and thanks for the nice remarks...
On the Cockpit Cushions:  The backs look neat because I put the folded edge on the top... they are all two layers thick, I cut the seat panels to allow them to lay flat, but the backs I just folded over... the two layers are stuck together with contact cement... I first overlapped papers on the seats and traced and then cut the paper to make a template shape.  The first layer of bedroll foam was cut to the template with a large kitchen knife.. I guess that's what made the lines so clean and relatively straight.  the second layer of bedroll foam was cut with a large margin (once contact makes contact... that's it) and trimmed to the first layer after gluing.

The original seats appear lighter because I went with the "raw" foam for a while... it started to get beat up as it is pretty soft... so I wound up covering everything with naugahyde... now don't get me started about all the "poor little naugas" that were sacrificed... anyway the vinyl covering is much more robust to kids shoes etc...

You can see the difference in the darker vinyl to the "raw" foam that I am leaving on the center filler as it will get less abuse.
