I went up to the lake this morning to pay for my slip.   We can put in as early as April 1st.  I am not sure the lake is going to be thawed out by then.
I could not even get to the marina because it is not plowed. It is going to be 60 today then back down to the 30's for a day or two.  I need this winter to be over.
On a positive note I still have about 3 or 4 weekends of work to do before I am ready.

I'll say, lots of deep snow still despite it being in the 40's for four days.
Coast Guard out breaking three foot of ice.
Expecting a rise in water depth of 22 inches ... so my dock will need to be raised up on her poles.
Top of wood on dock to water = 17 inches for my CP-19. perfect for me to just step on.
Back to 19 deg F. in three days.
Then I'll go back out there and jack up my dock on her poles. So much easier when the water is hard.

Mattlikesbikes,

"... about 3 or 4 weekends of work to do... ." Get on with it, and enjoy the process!

The lake WILL thaw, eventually. OR, you could hook up your trailer and come on down to SW Florida!

SW Florida sounds great .  My parents actually just bought a condo in Pompano Beach. I am not sure how the sailing is in the Atlantic for a small boat but looking at Google maps they are not too far from the keys.

It is going to be a long ride with a 6 month old, 3 year old, 2 dogs and a CP19 in tow when we go visit them :-)

I am actually looking forward to getting the boat ready.  Due to the harsh weather I was not able to work on the boat over the winter.
I just placed my order with defender for new lines. I am going to have a lot of eye splicing to do later this week

Mattlikesbikes,

Like I said, savor the flavor.

Anticipation CAN be a significant part of the fun, that is, IF you let it!

Today is Tuesday, last Thursday a fisherman comes into the store to buy some beads [he builds his own fishing lures ].

Drilling his ice hole he said the ice thickness was measured 33 inches out past The George Pinney Park and boat launch.
He drove his F-150 out onto the ice about 3/4 miles.

The Green Bay, Wisconsin news tonight said coldest winter on record with 59 days below zero. The old record set in 1904 was 44 days.

Another month before things un freeze? I'm thinking April 15th. With 6-1/2 to 7 foot of frost in the ground. Gardening May 1?

Winter in Egg Harbor. Quiet on all fronts.
