This weekend saw temps in the 60's here in NJ. Yeah, baby!! Nice rowing day on Saturday and great bike ride yesterday in shorts and t shirt. I love this state!!! Sometimes.

I almost made a bet the other day that the lake wouldnt be open by Saturday (this past saturday.)

Turns out my coworker was right....... It was open!, 2 days of thaw, one day being the wind for sure just turned the ice into a giant cloud of condensation which looked amazing! It was like having a cloud directly on top of the lake right at the opening of the harbor!
From the edge it looked like you were looking into a cloud and you really couldnt see very far into it.

For the polar plunge saturday the lake was open and 64 that day I think.

Gives me hope that soon spring will come, and they will drop in the launching dock so we can get the boat in and get some time sailing.

In Sturgeon Bay, WI. we are very close to breaking the old record of 48 days of temps below zero for one winter.
The layer of frost in the ground has exceeded 6 foot+ thus breaking water and sewer lines.
So today we awake to -1 below zero F, with high of 10 deg. F.  BUT the wind is just a-whipping
at 27 to 35 mph, thus driving the wind-chill down to dangerous. Frostbite expected. This morning the
barometer is climbing straight off the dial and the air is crystal clear, and at night a bazillion stars.

I am of the mind that the Polar Cap has slipped off the top of the Earth.

I'm guessing the snow will go a way end of April or early May.
