I sold my Compac today. She had many new improvements and the couple who bought her (from Victoria, BC) will have lots of fun plying the waters in their protected inlets and bays. I hope they join this community and have as much fun as I have had interacting with you all.
I just couldn't leave without saying how much you have helped me over the years, and allowed me to grow in seamanship and saltyness as time went on. You really are a great group of folks. When I first showed up here I knew very little about what makes a sailor. Now I can say that I am able to ply the oceans with awe and respect, and I get out there often to look at the whales, or a distant crashing shoreline. And I am able to see them because of the growth I experienced here.
When up in Desolation Sound (BC) last year, I saw a young couple with a baby on a small boat, going from place to place on very little food or materials. We did our best to help them out - I will always feel an attachment to small boats because some of the best friends I have had in the marine world live in small boats and write about their experiences on this forum.
So goodbye and fairwell my friends.
See you on the oceans ;D

Thank you for all your contributions to the development of this site and your sage advice. We'll certainly miss a gentleman like you, but at the same time we are truly happy for you on your new adventures.  Maybe Brenda and I will cross paths with your family out there somewhere in the near future.

Fair winds good friend.

Thanks all, I will check in occasionally. My Valient 40 is based in Astoria, and I would love to take any of my friends over the Columbia bank and into the 20 ft swells ;).
Seriously, you are all welcome on my boat anytime.

THANK YOU  for all your contributions to this site. YOU have most certainly enriched my life and your patience with my original photo posting crisis was very appreciated! I will miss your writings but I don't expect to be found on the west coast anytime soon so, Adios, my friend! Funny, but even though this is just a sailing forum, true friendships are born and lived here. You will be missed! May calm seas, fair winds be yours. May your larders always be full. And may your waterline always remain on the outside!

Newt, I'll echo the prior sentiments here...it was great to have you onboard the forum and really valued your contributions over the years.
May the next chapter in your sailing life be filled with joy and memories.

We learn from each other on this board and it is the interactions between us than makes this the great palce it is.

Newt,

Although I've been a member of CPYOA and have owned a CP16, Pegasus, for only about 3 years; I have often read your posts and learned much from them. Thank you for your valuable contribution and best of luck in your maritime adventures.
