I was blessed with seeing all my kids (4) and their kids (8 1/2) on Christmas Eve and day. My poor wife had to cook breakfast and dinner for the crowd, but she wouldn't have it any other way (Anyway, the new kitchen needed a good workout!).

As far as presents go, I did get one boat related thing - a new trailer jack (from Santa). I also got a new "smart phone" which I put in a safe place and have promptly forgot where! Maybe I need a new "smart" brain! Oh well, it'll turn up eventually. Also, got this very nice wool cardigan from my son-in-law. Unusual in that as I opened the present, I noticed he was wearing the same thing! Apparently he had ordered it on-line and accidentally pushed the "buy" button twice... lucky me!

Got new shoes and socks, no more going barefoot... just kidding. This Christmas was a blessing with all the kids and grandkids in good health. One downside, we did lose our yellow lab, Mollie on the 8th. Real bummer. She was the sweetest dog we ever had (they were all wonderful, though). I had hoped to turn her into a sailor, but never got the chance. When the new puppy arrives (soon, we hope) he or she hopefully will continue the tradition of being my buddy.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!

Marty,

I enjoyed that you put the smart phone in a safe place, haha; I might need to do that with mine, because  it can take over your life if you aren't careful.

We lost our dog this past month too. Not sure when we'll take the plunge for a new one. I'm sure we will, but maybe once the weather is better so we can train a puppy, and let it outside more than we would be able to this time of year.

Happy New Year, Sailors!

Skip, man, if you had been close, I would have been happy to share the squirrel event with you. ;D

DougN, your experience made me think about it.  In my early career I was a code welder working offshore oil and gas equipment. I gotta tell you, if I had gotten that same call there is no way I would be able to handle the job for an hour much less a week.  I'm impressed.

Not for Christmas, but I got Admiral Sheri her first ever smart phone in November.  Prior to that she just had a simple feature phone, but she wanted something with a good camera and her old phone was twelve years old.  The numbers were worn off the key pad.  She is 67 and I've got to tell you the learning curve alternates between complete frustration and hilarity. ::)  And we are further hampered because there are no teenagers left in the neighborhood to consult with. :'(

The name of the company is "Snow Lizard" and the product is called "SLXtreme5".  Below is the link to it.

So far I have just put the phone in it but seems to be the ticket when it comes to taking your phone anywhere and not worrying about it getting wet or running out of battery
