I recently purchased a 2008 Sun Cat Daysailer in New Jersey and had it shipped to my hometown of Seattle.  I've been looking at Com-Pac cat boats for a couple of years now and wanted to thank everyone who posts in this forum for the wealth of information that you provided, especially to those individuals that post frequently in the Sun Cat section.  The information contained on this site was very helpful in making a decision to purchase a Sun Cat and more recently in preparing the boat for my first sail (on this boat).  I've owned a couple of larger moored sailboats and am looking forward to sailing (and maintaining) a smaller boat with sailing characteristics of a larger boat.  I chose the daysailer because of the large cockpit area that can accommodate a small group of friends in comfort.  I will miss the interior accommodations and will have to make do with a boom tent camping sort of arrangement for overnight trips in the Puget Sound, San Juan Islands and British Columbia.  I look forward to being part of this forum and getting to know many of the folks whose advice has been so invaluable.

Welcome to the forum! I'm relatively new here, and have enjoyed it.

I used to have the cabin version of the Suncat, and have always thought that daysailer might be fun to. I know there was a guy who had a picnic cat who put two biminis on it, one right after the other, and that helped him for overnights as well as just making things comfy in hotter weather. I don't know how practical it is for both to be up while you are sailing, but it might be a cool way to work out the tent idea, and they work with sail up!

Thanks for the welcome and tips, Bruce.  What type of boat do you own?

I currently have a Com-pac 23 Mark 1 (1980) that has a user built bowsprit on it. I just got it last month, and have it in a slip in New Bern, NC. Trying to get free on a day that is warm, haha, to put a new outboard on it.

For now, if it is warm, it's at night, or I am busy; if I am free in the daytime, it's cold. That's my definition of winter.
