Finally got the sail up today although reefed for the 15 to 20 knot winds on Kentucky Lake.  I was surprised at how well she sailed in this configuration.  This was my first outing with a reefed main.

Yea the Jiffy Rig system to shorten sail works well.

Practice at the dock first. And once out on the water this system can be shaken out with ease.

Added a "jiffy" line for the tack instead of using the hook so reefing could be done entirely from the cockpit.  Used small Harken block and stamped shackle that would fit into the ring where the downhaul block is attached.  Ran 4 mm line from existing cleat for the clew reef line, through the Harken block, through the reef cringle and tied off at the gooseneck.  In use, tighten the tack, tighten the clew (both lines on the same cleat) and tie off the reef points (which I leave in the sail most of the time).  It's a bit of a stretch laying out over the hatch to tie in the forward one but the others are easily done in the cockpit/companionway.

Glad it sailed well reefed. You'll have more confidance next windy day.
