Well I still haven't had the time to attack the cabin roof repair but I did make up new companionway hatch guides. I made these from some left over Ipe (pronounced EE-pay) decking I had. I plan to leave them natural.

What did you use to mill them?

Hey Craig,

I just used a table saw to cut out the slot. Just set your depth/width and run it through, then make changes and run it through again. I then used a router on the edges and took an orbital sander to finish off the rest along with a bit of hand sanding on the rounded edges.

Looks good. Obviously, the table saw worked. I wondered if you had used a jointer. My father had one and I did a little work with it. Can't say my finish carpentry or woodworking skills are too finely honed. I replaced my hatch slides with two new ones I bought from Com-Pac.

Well I finished my "Honey Do" list, then took a trip to West Marine and purchased my supplies to begin work on the cabin roof. I'll keep you posted how things go. The weather is starting to get nice here in these parts and the sailing itch is gettin' worse by the day.
