Pretty grim sailing season here

I'm afraid I'm not going to get much sailing time in this year. We're having a particularly bad wildfire season. Smoke is covering most of southern Oregon, like a fog.

There are now five big fires in Douglas and Josephine Counties with names like the Labrador Fire, the Big Windy Complex, the Wiskey Complex, the Brimstone Fire and the grandaddy of all, the 28,000 acre Douglas Complex. Predominant summer north winds are spreading the smoke far to the south. Current prediction is they won't be extinguished until the onset of fall rains. That means not before mid to late October, at least. Ugh. Hasn't been this bad since the Biscuit Fire of '02.

Guess it's time to check the trailer over, schedule some time off work and get the heck out'a here. Trailer sailors do have advantages.

Mondo kudos to the fire crews.

I'm sorry to hear that, Mel.   :(     Praying for rain.

Tough to imagine a big wildfire, they are incredibly devastating.

As said pray for rain.
Better yet sweep aside those tree huggers and clear cut the dead stuff down so not so much fuel is on the ground for a fire to consume.

"Get'er done, log her out."

Earlier this year there was a fire in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and the smoke and stink wafted down to Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.
