So finally, after shipping errors, our Tohatsu Sailpro 4-stroke 6hp extra long shaft arrived.
Today we were able to fit it to the HC and take it for a break-in putt-putt.
We filled the crankcase with oil and put the motor in the water tank. It started second pull and we ran it on idle for the recommended 10 minutes. We then transferred it to the boat. I don't know who makes our adjustable motor mount, but it was very fiddly to tighten the 2 motor mount screws. Not enough clearance between the levers on the screws and the locking bar on the spring assist motor mount.

It started first (gentle) pull and then we went out for a 1-1/2 hour motor around the salt water lagoon to break in the motor a little. I didn't measure the speed, but we were going a good clip at not much more than tick-over. I was surprised how quiet it is, no raised voices for conversation. Noticeable vibration, but then it is single cylinder and the revs were low. I used to hate the smell of 2-stroke oil with a following wind, the 4-stroke doesn't have any odor at all.
So far, I'm really happy with the Tohatsu.
The only bad thing, again was not the motor, but the spring assist lift. The locking lever has a bolt through it with a plastic knob each end. The nut had come off with the vibration and one of the plastic knobs is also on the bottom of the lagoon. Why would a manufacturer want to save 10 cents by not fitting a nyloc nut? There wasn't even a lock washer (or if there was, it didn't lock!)

Just waiting for the weekend to finally get the Horizon Cat under sail.

Lost one of my plastic end knobs as well. As for clearance, it is rather tight between the levers on screws and locking bar with my YAMAHA 4 HP 4-stroke also. Good thing I don't have to take the motor on and off frequently otherwise the lifting mechanism would be a prime candidate for an URGENT modification.

Glad you like your motor. Enjoy your HC, big sister to my SC.
