Just bought a 1984 CP19

Ahhh the fleet of CP-19 enlarges. A Mark I, II, or III.
MacGyver is right. Loosen the bolts and slide the winch forward on the trailer. If you have to flip flop the jack and winch.
Two ways to slide the boat up.

One. Pull, the winch tight. Drive ahead, slam on the brakes, she'll skinny up a bit toward the vee block. Keep doing this till the boat is where you want it, in the vee block. The keel will roll on the rollers. And note that at no time will the keel touch or sit on all four of the rollers. When she's tight to the vee block, she'll touch the front roller. When louse during storage she will rise off the front roller and touch the stern roller. Any three will do. Re adjust the hull bunks.

Two. Tighten the winch, use a 10 inch long 2 x 4 under the keel between the trailer cross members [play around, move the wood and floor jack back and forth till the balance point is found] and use a 2-1/2 ton floor jack with wheels to raise the boat off the rollers and hull bunk. You need a smooth surface under the jack. Maybe a piece of scrap plywood as a 'road'. Not much just enough to skinny the boat around. Use the winch to pull the boat with jack into the newly positioned vee block. Then re adjust the hull bunks.

Most of the weight sits on the rollers. I put a tee-shirt rag between the hull and the hull bunks above each 2" x  2" leg, and adjust the hull bunk fit until it requires a pretty good yank to pull the tee-shirt rag out from between the hull and the bunk. You'll see that the adjusted hull bunk fit, curves to the hull and kind of locks the hull into the trailer.

I actually did this week before last. Boat rides about 8 inches forward of where it was when I got it.

   Tug: I normally charge $5000.00 initiation fee to be a member here...my 23 has developed an apetite for very expensive goodies and my building contractor job just aint cutting it. Some have, in a round about way, suggested this is highway robbery. Not so. As you yourself has stated in your very first post, this is a "great resource". So one great resource deserves another.
   You may drop the small unmarked bills in a plain brown paper bag next to the Compac exhibit at the Annapolis Sailboat show in October....make sure you're not followed!

Hey Bob,
Unfortunately I spent my CPYOA initiation fee on my new CP-19.  Funny how that works out.  As for the Boat Builders Show, hope you make it down here for it!  Its a great show and I used to keep my old boat at Portland Yacht Services. Checked the dates on the show and sadly I'll be out at work so gonna miss it this year.  Oh well.  Thanks to all for the trailer advice.  New axle is on its way and old one already cut off.  Can't wait to get the trailer done so I can get on to boat projects.....
