Taking Mike Greene's challenge of yesterday about pets aboard, I'm submitting this photo of my daughters Papiyon "Bentley" weighing in at all of 7 lbs.

Notice his firm grip on the tiller and the way his ears act as windtells.
See the determined look in his eye as he shouts: "Ready abark...howl alee!".

great pic, bob..  and, as always, nice commentary..
i enjoyed reading about your new years day row..   i am going to build Firefly and row with you one of these years!   And, in the meantime, i look forward to sailing with you this season.. jt

Sounds good! I like Firefly. It looks similiar to my old Annapolis Wherry which I rowed both fixed oar and sliding seat. I bet the additional weight of the Fly would help her in semi-rough water. There was discussion somewhere on a WoodenBoat forum about decking her over so she could be rowed open ocean.
I almost went to Massachussets last week to buy a Guideboat but weather and family obligations conspired against me. I still have the dream to buy a new Kevlar boat from the Adirondack Guideboat guys in Vermont. Maybe a 60th birthday present...maybe not.
Stay well and enjoy the winter...still no snow down here but one can always dream! Not too early to plan for the BBB 2013!

Here's Second Dog Sophie (7 lb. Yorkshire Terrier) in her favorite spot on the starboard end of the transom, doing her famous imitation of a meatloaf. She makes a beeline for this spot and won't ride anywhere else. The best I can do is keep her leash tied down and hope she doesn't slide off.

a guide boat.. how about that..  i could have picked it up for you.. i just drove by their shop  in VT on our way home from visiting my daughter earlier this week!    they sure are pretty boats.. i rowed one at the Maine boats and harbors show  in Rockport ME a few years ago..  isn't it a shame that we don't have room in our lives for all of the boats that we happen to find appealing :)   jt
