Hi all- just wanted to introduce myself.  I picked up a '78 CP 16 last weekend and have been having a blast going over it and planning improvements to it.  The boat is in overall good condition, the worst part is the cabin- a previous owner painted it with gray "fleck" paint which makes it look just like the inside of an oven, and ripped out some of the interior.  I need to figure out what was in there b/c basically all that's left is a concrete floor and some rotten plywood.  It came with a main, jib, and genoa, which appear to be in good shape also.  The original trailer was scrapped long ago, so I have modified a trailer I already had to handle it.  I believe I've finally got it about right, just need to carpet the bunks.

I'm really impressed with this little boat so far- I could sit and gaze at her lines all day.  I can't wait to get her on the Chesapeake!   :D

She looks great!  And good job with the trailer.  I sailed off of Newport News years ago in a restored wooden open 18' boat.  Also sailed at the north end where the Sesquehana River  and I believe it was the John's River dumps into the Bay.  Great winds, just had to stay clear of the freighters headed for Philly.

JERSEY SHORE TRAILER SAILERS

I can't tell you how much this board has helped in my decision to buy & what to look for and expect.  I have no doubt I'll be asking plenty of questions and seeking advice in the near future.

Hey Kevin,  after looking at your pics, yours really isn't that much worse off than mine was.  Mine came from MD too- last week.  I've just had an extra few days to work on her.  The good thing about these little boats is that every little thing you do to them seems to really make a big difference.   I redid the teak tonight with some Cetol- looks almost like new.

What is the hull number? Mine is a '78 also, Hull #759

She's # 567.  Boy, they must have been cranking them out in '78.  :)
