1985 Compac 23 for sale. Rare Ketch-rigged yawl with standing lug genoa. Sails are new Egyptian cotton, just back from the dry cleaners so they are in great shape, crisp and clean.
Full electronics including Garmin 521S, Ritchie bulkhead mounted compass, altimeter and water temp gauge.  2 deep 4 cycle R-series BMW batteries. Auxiluary power is supercharged 426 Hemi developing 850 BHP on the dyno. While the Compac 23's are no rockets under sail, this one will do the nautical quater mile in under 4 seconds. She's the current NHRA sailboat division record holder and will top out and just under 275 knots. Note: I recommend lowering the mast over 75 knots- the rigging makes an awful howl. Of course, under sail you can expect a top end of about 7 knots, max.
Other equipment includes custom concrete foiled rudder, new balsa tiller, and recently installed CDI furler with the standing lug adaptor. Down below we have a small Sub Zero, back pack size Wolf range and the regular porta-potti common to these boats. Danforth anchor, 300' of 5/8" line included. Trailer included in ok shape but could use new CV joints and front end alignment.
Hutchins only built one of these and this is it. Because of it's rarity it's worth 3 times what I'm asking but I need to raise the cash fast so I'm asking $8500.00. She's presently in the water and ready for a test sail. You may contact my broker, Mr. Martin McFly at (609) 555-4823 to arrange a sail. Thanks.

A little late-night pepperoni and early morning indigestion there, Bob23?

Could be Bob is getting into the spirit of April Fools day.  I am curious about the tankage for that Hemi though.:)

I'd like a 23 someday, disappointed though in the lack extras for the head ....."the regular porta-potti common to these boats" ....what?, no whirlpool?

Koinonia is gonna be pissed at you Bob!

I agree with Ray.   If I can squeeze a 52" LCD and mini-bar in the 19, a whirlpool is not asking much from the extra 4 feet.

Bob, would a $6500 offer tempt you? And give me little break on all the sales, closing and forum transaction fees.  I did after all burn you a couple of cool CLR2010 and 2011 DVD's. They must be worth at least $1300 a piece.

Always enjoy a good Back to the Future reference, Bob.  Kudos.

"You mean you built a time machine out of a Compac 23?" "The way I see it, if your'e gonna build a time machine, why not do it with some style."
I guess I should've been a bit more thorough in my ad. Fuel is held in 2 tanks totalling 30 gallons each in addition to the nitro boost. She's burn through all 60 gallons in the 1320'.
Ray: This is a raceboat so I had to keep the weight to a minimum. The whirlpool is out but the subzero was a must- beer must be kept cold.
Salty: For you, I'll entertain another offer- if it's higher than my asking price!!!!! But you did send me those dvd's and those cool beer, ah, er I mean beverage bottle holders. I've had a lot of calls from this ad. Martin Truex, a local hometown boy who made the Nascar big time, is interested saying he wants to combine his love of fast cars with sailing. I told him he can own it if he promises not to put any of those corny Nascar stickers on her.
Mike: This was Koinonia's idea. Nice to own a sailboat with a sense of humor. My friends say that having one is the only way they can put up with me! I wonder what they really mean by that?!
A note on the trailer: Some folks have wondered how a trailer can need a front end alignment. Simple. That little wheel on the trailer jack seems to have too much negative camber. Maybe nothing serious. I'd be willing to come down a bit if the buyer delas with it himself.
Oh, this ad expires tonight, by the way. If she doesn't sell by 11:59 pm, I may take her off the market.

I can sure see the fascination with the 426 Hemi. When I was younger and less responsible, I spent a considerable amount of time fitting that engine into a 17' sea kayak. All went well until the sea trials. All went fine until I punched. Seems I overlooked the torque.

C'mon, Wiggs:
Who are you trying to kid? I know darned well that you can fit a 426 into a 17' sea kayak. Maybe a 18' Alden double rowing shell but not a 17' 'yak. I'd rather go with an older 327.
Well, this 1985 Compac 23/2 has been sold for the asking price to and elderly woman from Pasadena,  California. Seems this little old lady had aquired a need for speed but due to her age (85) and the fact that she's legally blind, they took her license away.
In her advancing age, she'd decided to try something a bit slower like sailing but when she saw my ad, she couldn't resist the lure for high velocity and when combined with the opportunity to combine that with the relaxation of sailing and the prestige of owning a Compac 23, she jumped on the deal. I hope she posts some photos of her sailing 'Frisco Bay.
I'll miss the boat but that 426 sure sucked gas.
