Hello All!

When I brought my "new" CP16 home back in July, I took inventory of the stuff that came with it. One item was a crank like I had on my old MGTD. Anyone know what it's for? Or if it has anything at all to do with the boat. I thought that maybe it was for a scissor jack for the trailer but it seems too light. Could it be for roller furling the main?

could be a winch handle? do you have any winch drums on your 16?

could be the handle for the bilge pump?

We need pictures.

Marty:
That is a finagin pin remover for an old Volvo 122. Or it could be a heater blower removal tool for a 240. Trust me.

You're a sick man, Bob23! I'm sure there's a Volvo in your near future. One of my friend Dario's (who you may have met at Up The Creek Marina - I forget... damn 6+ decades) has a customer who wants to sell his '88 245 for a ridiculously high amount of money. It's automatic with 150k and new tires and no rust. It seems to need a radio!! and A/C. It's one owner and always garaged. Asking price: $3,500.00... gulp! If you want, I'll give you his phone number off line (BTW - I bought my '90 760 Turbo Wagon (you saw it) for $1,500.00 four years ago. A very good deal indeed).

I was going to apologize for highjacking this post, then realized it was I who posted it in the first place! That 60+ thing.

A sick man? Yeah...I've heard that before.
I'm gonna call about a p1800es wagon in Connecticut today. If business picks up, yes, there is one in my future.
Are you gonna post a photo of the "thing" or keep us all in suspense? Like I alluded to, it may be a tool that makes the blower fan removal on a 240 a simple job. Patent it, man!

ok bob, what are you doing up this early on a saturday morning!    for that matter, what am i doing up?   couldn't sleep -  i have been sitting in on a colleague's English class this past week - we are reading Huck Finn, and he assigned and essay to the class yesterday.  So, instead of writing the advisee letters that i am supposed to be writing this weekend, I thought that it would be fun to write an essay on huck finn..    actually, i have a bit in common with Huck.  He was a little younger, of course, but  he set out on a maritime journey with a friend..  and what an adventure he had!   of course, I am hoping that Adagio is a little more seaworthy than Huck's raft, and I would be just as happy to dodge some of the travails that he experienced on his adventure, but  I am looking forward to a trip one of these days.. just my wife ( my best friend)  and I on the boat with no particular destination and no particular time line, free for the entire summer or longer..  exploring different towns along the way..  wait minute,  someone just told me that Huck Finn is fiction.. here all along, i thought it was a true story!  :)  oh well.

sorry to butt in on your thread Marty!  looks like this would NOT be a good weekend for a sail on nockamixon..  we are supposed to get as much as 12 inches of snow in the poconos..    let's see how that all turns out.    i too am interested in a pic of the mystery item..  and, the more you and bob keep talking about volvos..   makes me want to check one out in the classifieds!    have a great weekend jt

Bob23 - Obviously you know a thing or two about Volvos. Just in case you didn't know this... the quick and easy blower removal on a 240 is to simply cut the damn thing out, stick in the new motor and hit the housing with epoxy! Done! I hope you get your 1800ES. They are among the most beautiful of automobiles. Make sure it has AC. And stick is better than auto. Try for a '73 if you can; the rear portion of the body is somewhat stronger. Volvo would have kept building them if they weren't required to put big (spelled ugly) bumpers on 'em. They put big bumpers on my 164E, but at least they looked good on a boxy car.

jt - You're welcome on my thread anytime. Isn't it loverly out there? Ugh! Believe it or not, I'm still hoping for a shot at Nockamixon this year. Pray for an Indian Summer. If it hits 60 degrees plus (and dry), I'll be there! Then Pegasus goes to sleep 'til spring.

I feel like I already know you and look forward to doing the overnight thing on Barnegat Bay next Spring. Be nice to meet you and other CP owners. As you know, I already met Bob23, and that wasn't too terrible!

As far as photos go, got to get my act together. I do have a Photobucket account now, so I have to take the next step. Slow learner!

While inventorying my sailboat stuff this past Fall, (yeah, this was posted 4 months ago) I was looking in the garage for stuff I thought I could use with the boat. Lo and behold! I found an old scissor jack, sans crank, from my '65 Volvo P1800. It turns out that the "thing" fits it perfectly. I have now a jack (with crank) just in case.

I'm done now.
