The PVC guides are attached to the trailer frame with smaller diameter PVC tubes as uprights.

The uprights are bolted to the trailer frame with U-bolts.

The uprights fit into holes in bottom side of the guides that I cut with a hole saw.

When I first made keel guides like this for my Catalina 22 over 19 years ago, I was worried that the uprights might not be strong enough.  However, they worked out well and the current owner of the Catalina is still using them.

Since then I have used that method on several other boats.

It is cheap, works very well to center the boat on the trailer, and it prevents the problems that are unavoidable with the low and horizontal carpeted wood guides that are commonly used.

i kept the rollers and made boards in between the rollers to keep the keel from catching in that area upon retrieval. works like a champ
