Well, Weatherbug says it's gonna be nice Sunday. So, I'm throwing my hat in and plan to mini-trek up to Lake Nockamixon. Hopefully, the weather does hold and the colors ought to be a riot. I'll be looking forward to meeting jt and any other CP Yacht owners that may show up. Should arrive about 1100 to allow Sol some time to burn off frost and fog. Since it's time to "fall back", it will get darker an hour later. That should allow about 3 - 4 hours of sail time. Will dress appropriately!

wow, the weather does look kind of promising for sunday..  unfortunately,  this is the weekend of the play at school,  and i am part of the backstage crew, and we have a performance on sunday afternoon :(       the hectic activity of boarding school in October is spilling over into November!     We are headed down to NJ on saturday to  put the final touches on Adogio before winter settles in, and we need to be back well in advance of curtain time sat evening, so that will be a little rushed, but we are hoping that Bob might join us for breakfast at Shut Up and Eat..  on saturday morning.    you will have to include that in your next trip to barnegat bay - it is an experience.

so,  it looks like we won't be making it to nockamixon this year, but  i will be in touch the next time that we get down to bucks county..  it will be fun to say hello and to see your boat and to plan and scheme for next summer..   have a great weekend.  jt

Marty, hopefully you will get a good day in. Keep us posted.

In particular, about the details how you get there: where to launch, where to sail, where to hang out, etc. It's something I'd like to try next season! Nockamixon is within weekend driving distance from me. As a matter of fact, the CP-16 I just purchased must have sailed in Nockamixon: the previous owner lived in that area.

And, if you post a call for company then, I'd love to meet up.

For this season, though, I am done. As I write this, I am still running my house on a generator (below is a picture of my driveway last Sunday). Fortunately, the Saturday morning when it was just starting to snow, I covered the ComPac and moved it to a safer spot. It is now snug under tarps, awaiting next spring.

The boat in picture is not the ComPac - but it could have been, if I procrastinated any more with winter preparations...

Have a great weekend sail!

Hello All!

Dragged Pegasus up to Nockamixon on Sunday with No.1 son, Michael. Temp was in the low 60's with no clouds and plenty of sunshine! Got to the lake around 1200 and enjoyed a pleasant cruise for the next couple of hours. Most of the time had a SW breeze of about 5 mph. Had lunch on board and viewed the herons enjoying the beautiful day, as well. Unfortunately, we missed the leaves turning; that happened a week or two ago up there. As the sun started to drop (along with the temperature!) we headed back to the ramp only to have the wind evaporate about half a mile out. "Fired" up the trusty Minn Kota and motor-boated back to the ramp. By this time, the sun was below the horizon. Mike got the car/trailer and we pulled Pegasus out. We were the last sailboat out, probably for the season as none were in their slips anymore. Over 600 sailboats - vanished!

Details: From Levittown, PA (just north of Philly) took PA413 north to PA313 that runs right into Nockamixon State Park just above Dublin. About 30 miles. Although the roads are all just 2 lane, traffic was light and moved well. There are a number of very steep hills, but the old Volvo took 'em in stride. I didn't use the OD because of the hilly conditions, but didn't notice much increase in gas consumption either.

Got to meet some nice folks from the Nockamixon Sail Club, (www.nockamixonsailclub.org) including Diane Paxton the membership director. Everybody was real friendly with plenty of offers to help if we needed it. On that note, the ramp there is really well constructed and launching and retrieving the CP16 was a piece of cake. Almost effortless! This facility is really wonderful and is worth the trip. Any boat registered in PA is free. Horsepower is limited to 20hp.

Can't wait for my return trip in the spring!

Hi Marty,
sounds like you had a great day..  good for you!   we traveled to jersey on saturday to cover up Adagio for the season.  it was a quick trip down and back.   I am sorry that we were tied up on sunday..  we had a show that was scheduled for 2 pm, but our female lead was sick so things did not get started till almost 3 -  it was a long afternoon and not nearly as enjoyable as yours, i am sure!

so, keep in touch.  we will make the effort to get down to lower Bucks county sometime over the winter...  jt

W ell, it appears that the weather gods are being kind. Maybe making up for that nasty October snowstorm. Got to sail Nockamixon one more time! Met up with jt & j at about 1100. Temp in the low 60s and plenty of sunshine. The wind was from the SW at about 5 to 10 mph and some gusts thrown in to make it interesting. We lunched on donuts and anti-donuts (apples). Marty K.
