where do the wires run?

Hi,

as I am rebuilding my mastfoot, I ran into the wires for the mast light. They kinda pop out of the mast foot and end in socket into which the wire from the mast will be plugged. I can not figure out where those wires continue in the boat. They must come out under the mast foot in the cabin roof and run on the starboard side to the fuse box. But I cant find them - unless I take my grinder and cut up the boat. Any hints, blueprints?

thanks

Mine come down in the middle of the starboard cabin bulkhead.  There is actually a routed slot in the bulkhead that is covered under the HPL on the forward side.  The aft side is finished teak ply.   I had to take off the top trim piece to expose the entry into the bulkhead.  From there it goes under the starboard settee to the panel.  Others have posted that theirs runs inside the channel trim piece on the edge of the bulkhead.

On my 23/3 the wiring was run behind the solid teak trim on the fore side of the starboard bulkhead on the inside edge.

I wish you guys would tell the reader what kind of Com-Pac you are writing about at the beginning of the posts. Some boats have compression posts and others have arches with no compression posts. I had to go back through the posts of Grafluckner to see he has a CP-23. I just look~see the posts since your last visit and not what category the post was in.

That aside, the Com-Pac 19 has the wires for the STEAMING LIGHT [ The one additional white 225 degree light located at the spreaders, turned on with or with out the sail up and WITH the motor running and powering the boat ]. Other wires coming down the mast might be a white 360 degree anchor light at the mast head.

OK the wires come through the cabin overhead in a water proof thimble [ my word ] and generally travel behind and down the compression post, under the VEE birth decking, out of sight in the bilge and behind the decorative faced plywood bulkhead supporting the compression post, to the starboard side, through a factory drilled hole leading into the starboard storage compartment [ access through the Vee Birth Hatch ].

From the storage compartment, back through another factory drilled hole in the same decorative plywood bulkhead and finally into the area beneath the starboard quarter birth. There is a small access hatch in the quarter birth deck. Additionally the ship's HTCH number is epoxied around there too. The wires and all additional wires added run through here to the foot bulkhead at the stern end of the quarter birth where wires are routed over to the starboard side hull and up to the electrically panel. Some wire come back down and are led astern to power the stern lamp.

As I wrote: " I just look~see the posts since your last visit and not what category the post was in. "
It's my fault for not catching the category.

point taken tho. Some folks just look at the "new" post and the forum info is stripped. IOW: it pays to be redundant.

Thanks for all your help guys.

oh, yes, this is the CP23 forum,

best,
