Trailer tongue extension

On my 16 I built a 6' sliding extender onto the tongue to use for launching, only had to use it once. It bowed a bit and if I did it again I would probably use a heavier gauge tube, but it did work.

I did launch my 23 this spring with a tow strap as you describe. Just put down the tongue jack which has a small plastic wheel, blocked the tires, unhooked the hitch, attached the 15' tow strap to the trailer, then to the back of the truck, removed the wheel block, and backed the trailer into the water. If I had to do it often I would replace the little plastic wheel with something more beefy. Luckily the river level dropped over the summer and I didn't have to use the strap to pull the boat, which would have been much harder. With a 16 it would certainly be possible, but getting the boat sitting on the trailer correctly would be critical (and difficult) in the deeper water with just the tow strap attached.

Skip, instead of a jack, I just place a cinder block under the frame. Now when I back her into her spot, I just have the miss go to the back and line it up with the cinder block and tell me where to stop.

Cinder blocks are heavy and not store-able if blocking in a remote location...besides no women I know wants to haul one of those under the boat...I didn't marry 'Butch'. LOL.

skip.

Lol skip, me neither. I put the block under the frame when I had it parked where I wanted it. The block stays there and never moves. If my trailer is ever in a different location it is always connected to my truck.
