Have been looking for the perfect day to try out my new soft rigging for the spinnaker.  Am now using spectra climbing runners for my tack line and soft shackles for the sheet blocks attached to the stern cleats.  Yesterday was 8-10 out of the south which is the long direction on the lake.  Perfect day. Mid week, couldn't find any crew.   Didn't bother to put up the main, just drifting along at 3.8-4.5 knots with the spinnaker.  The only other folks on the lake was a couple in a powerboat and they stopped to take pictures, then went on.  As I was coming in I saw their boat at a picnic area and eased over to ask if they would email me copies.  They were happy to do it, in fact had an interest in sailing and I'm planning to take them out near future.

Very nice Pictures............

Funny how things work out.............

I had a guy stop at my house to ask me if I ever take my boat out (the boat is sitting in my drive way). Any how, one thing lead to another and now we are trying to sail once a month together.

first time sailing for him and he really enjoys it.

Brackish; That is one beautiful asymmetrical Star-Cut red, white and blue spinnaker with a dousing sock. Where in the stern is this sail taced?
And in the bow it is attached to...? And who's sail is it [ mf'g ] ?

Nice to have a good day hey?

Skip, I use 6" spectra climbing runners pushed through the eye of the stern cleat then looped over each horn.  The shackles on the blocks are attached to the runners.  This works great in that the stern cleats can still be used for mooring or an anchor line with the blocks attached.

I installed a triangle ring on the strap over the anchor roller.  I use a 24" climbing runner permanently attached to the tack of the sail with a spring clip to attach it to the ring.  Also have a tack collar that came with the sail that straps it to the furled genny.  So rigging is just a couple of spring clips.

The climbing runners are great, light, strong, no stretch.  The folks at the outdoor stores kind of look at you funny when you tell them what you want them for.

Sail was ordered from JSI but they made it in the Doyle/Ploch loft.  Don't know why but I didn't complain, got a domestic sail made to the Doyle APC specs for the import price.  Doyle has a webcam in their loft so I got to watch the sail being made in real time.  It is a custom size, the computer generated sail for the 23/2/3/4 would be slightly larger with more belly and if sized for the 23 (no bowsprit) it would be slightly smaller.  Dan at JSI was easy to work with.

Dousing sock is a Chute Scoop, half the price of an ATN and it works great, can't imagine what the ATN would do better for twice the price.
