My CP16 Raven doesnt have a Bilge Pump. Nor does it have any electrical equipment of any kind. I am wondering whether or not to fit an aftermarket pump of some kind and would welcome suggestions as to what type and where to put it
I have read that many CP16s are fitted as standard with Bilge Pumps, both Manual and electrical. I would be obliged if someone could tell me where the Bilge Pumps are plumbed in to the bilge and where the battery is positioned. Since my boat doesnt have the Bilge Pump outlet through the transom I wonder if it would be OK just to discharge into the cockpit which is self draining?
Thanks for any suggestions, but unfortunately my Server cannot log on to the Hutchins website for some unknown reason so I cannot investigate what they do in production.

I have no bilge pump either. I assume that your cockpit still has the 'self bailing' fittings.
Unless your boat takes on water I wouldn't bother, a cut down plastic bottle can be re-purposed for removing any water. Plus a reasonable sized bucket has many uses and always handy in an emergency.
If water's coming in from somewhere I'd look first to sorting that.
In conditions where you're worried about water getting into the cabin, I'd be ready with PFD, VHF, GPS and flares on my person and 'batten down the hatches' or you could loose the boat if you get 'pooped.
If worried about getting holed, get a couple of forespar tru plugs. A compac 16 with holes bigger than what they can deal with is going down anyway.

edit: my post is too much doom. I wouldn't be out in conditions that would do these things. But... the reality is that most bilge pumps will not be able to deal with emergency situations so preventing water ingress is more important.

Get a big sponge.

My 19 has a manual pump and I'm not sure it even works.
