Has anyone replaced the semi-spherical, plastic, steaming light on the mast?  I ordered and just received the replacement from Hutchins and it's not at all the same design as the OEM.  They told me it was different with a new style bracket, but it's huge and not pretty -- sort of barrel shape with a large wrap-around SS bracket.  I think I'll send it back, but wondered if anybody has an alternative?   My lens is cracked badly and I'm concerned it may eventually snag the head sail.  Thanks!

"My lens is cracked badly and I'm concerned it may eventually snag the head sail."

My lens was fine but the wood was cracked...so I took all apart and glued the wood back together
and drilled out the glue where the screw holes became filled in and cut some new threads for the bezel screws.
The mounting holes in the wood base to screw this wood onto the mast were fine.

Now your problem...I suppose that a plastic lens could be found by searching about at auto supply shops, especially for British car
replacement lens used for turn signal lights. Might fine a suitable lens and matching bezel in clear glass.

Or even those Parko lens shown in the West Marine Catalog.
I'll bet that's where the original lamp and lens came from.

Jeff, I just replaced my light on my 1986 CP 19.  I found an exact match to the original, the only difference being the original had a clouded lens, and the new one has a clear lens (maybe mine was cloudy due to age!).  "Sea Dog Line" products makes them, and you can see it online at the Sea Dog site.  If you click on "lighting", it is the first product offered, a "stainless all around light".  The site has a list of dealers who sell their products.  I bought mine at Lockwood Marine in Perth Amboy, NJ. It fit perfectly!  Here is a link to the site:

Com-Pac factory boats. You can modify the wiring so as not to deify the maritime law.

Never sail with sail~up and steaming light on. You not steaming. So light off.
Just the bow red/green light and a white stern light is to be it.
When motoring with or without the sail up turn the steaming light on.
This includes that top-O-mast anchor light. Don't turn that on unless anchored.
