We have a family here in town with a really nice 38 or 42 foot sloop 'something' and the three of them were caught in a hurricane that hit the Baja Pennisula.

As luck would have it, the husband took off for a business thing and Ma and the kid stayed on the boat in Mexico. Well sure enough the big blow came and so she ran the boat up into a tiny narrow crevice and tied the boat to just about everything that appeared solid on land.

Well the winds and rains came along with a surge that left the boat strung up on the side of crevice. The only thing she could do was to cut the lines and let the boat down back into the water. A great waste of fine line.

She participated in the Door County winter time speaker's series and presented a very nice PowerPoint talk with pictures and arrows...the whole nine yards. Boat survived too. She's sitting on a can near my house. I'll grab a shot and post her.
