Hello all,

My wife and I just bout our first Compac yesterday, its a 1981 Compac 23 in amazing shape and we have our maiden voyage on her tomorrow. We are very excited to say the least. Hopefully the Mississippi sun will duck behind the clouds, these 95 plus degree days are for the birds!

Thanks,
Brandon

Congratulations to you and your wife. The 23 is a great sailing boat, enjoy your maiden voyage, but keep in mind "It is not the ship so much as the skillful sailing that assures the prosperous voyage" have fun and welcome, there are so many knowledgeable folks and information on this site, you will never have to look very hard to find answers to any questions you may have. As far as the 95 degree heat I'll take it...much better than the 130 we have here in Qatar.

Best Regards,
Michael

Welcome! While I do agree with Michael, my 23 has overlooked many times my lack of ability and made sure I returned safe to home port. Please write back to tell of your maiden voyage. What is the name of your ship? We, up here in NJ know about 95 degree heat. We've had the hottest spring and summer that I can remember in my 57 years. And last winter we saw record snowfalls. Wierd, huh.
Best to you and Mrs. Brandon in your new adventures!

Welcome Brandon,

Where in Mississippi do you sail?  I'm docked at Bay Springs Marina, live in Tupelo.  Considering a move to the coast next year.

Hello all!

Well, maiden voyage complete... what a fantastic day! She sails like a champ and was real gentle with me as I have been off the water for almost 3 years. My lil' bride took the helm for a spell and had a blast! By and large I can say is we made a wise decision going to a Compac 23, she sails well, is forgiving and likes having her rail in the water! Not to mention her classy good looks and responsiveness... all I can say is that I am once again, a happy sailor.

Brackish... we sail on the Ross Barnett Rez in Jackson. The most underutilized lake in the SE!!

Howdy Bob23,

Her name is the "Judy Darlin'" named after my mother in law, Judy Darling who is a life long sailor and strong and positive influence in our lives. Yes indeed, the weather is wierd indeed! Luckily we had some nice wind today.
