i wonder if anyone has seen the following upgrades on a cp19. seems like i read something (probably on that south carolina sailboat company site) where they installed a mast tender on a cp19 mast. i think they also changed the standing rigging eliminating the backstay and repositioning the side stays further aft much like a cp16 rig. if this rig would work it would make stepping the mast much easier hince better for solo trailer sailors like myself

kick,  sounds like you've been trying to talk yourself into a 19 for awhile now!

Yea, I think the mast tender would work great. The gallows like the Eclipse would be sweet, easy up and down once you get a system.
The backstay though...I dunno.  It's just a few second to adjust and doesn't need to be taken off ever until replacement, so why bother the risk and cost? It can get snagged when raising the mast if you don't set it right beforehand but again just a few seconds.  I really like Doug142's winch and gin pole setup to raise the mast (yeah, it's a bit heftier than a 16).

The sailboat company would know as about as much as making this work as anyone though. I say go for it if you can figure out a place to store it.

What do you guys mean a "mast tender"? Like a gin pole? something to step the mast. I'm confused.

Agree w/ Salty, the back stay should stay. I don't need to adjust mine when I step the mast. Just the front stay. When going on a run w/ my 150 genoa I'm glad to have the extra support. And yea it does get caught up on the tiller every now and then when stepping the mast. Just check before you give it the ole heave ho!. It is also a nice place to grab onto for any reason should you need a handle.

Go to the North Carolina Sailboats website http://www.ipass.net/sailboat/ and thumb doen the "Whats new" section.  There are pictures and descriptions of the "mast tender"  system and the modifications he has made to numerous Com-pac boats.  If you have not looked at this website yet I would definately recommend doing so.
