no one ever seems to post here. Not many cp14' s around I guess. Well I hope to find some others out there that have one.  Mine is hull no. 1, that's right, the first cp14 to hit the water.  I've had it for several years. Been lurking on this site since I bought it. I called the company when I found it on eBay years ago and I think I talked to Hutchins himself.  Some executive any way.  He sailed my boat with his kids when it was new. Testing it I suppose.  Sent me a grainy picture with his two young boys on her.  She's in good shape despite laying on the ground  for who knows how long at the po's place in GA.  I even have the optional snap on dodger the first few came with. in the process of restoring that. As far as sailing goes she's a bit tender and over canvassed  The hikng strap comes in handy. Despite this I've never turned her over. she rounds up mightily if you manage to get water over her gunnels. I think I'll keep her.  love to hear from anyone.

Hi Dan:
   I don't own one but almost bought one from a guy in Maryland last year sometime. I hesitated (really didn't need it) and it sold to someone in Florida.
   I also spoke with Rich Hutchins who sent me the same photo. Very cool. I keep a lookout now and then hoping to find one.

In my first go-round here at CPYOA with a few thousand posts their was a young fellow pictured standing next to his CP-14 on a trailer. Maybe if you do a search that pic may come up.

Hi. We just bought what turns out to be a CP14 from a nice young man in Appleton, WI.  It's in great shape, we are looking forward to putting it in the water.  Any idea how to find out what hull number we have?

   im thinking that appleton, wi isnt that far from southern illinois. consider this a formal invitation to the CLR. you will indeed have the most unique boat there. and win a special award to boot.

  Contact the factory...they are incredibly helpful. a few years ago I let a 14 slip through my fingers and Rich Hutchins was really helpful in providing me with info and a photo with his then young family standing in front of a new CP14. You may have a bit of Compac history!

Hi, just sayin'.   Thanks for the invitation, but what is a CLR?  I'm looking for some contacts I can use to find spare parts, sails, etc.  The sails are actually in good shape, and have a nice maroon highlight on both main and jib.  Thinking though for future reference, I might want to have sources for replacements in my back pocket, given that this seems to be a rather rare model in the COM-PAC line of sailboats...

What is CLR?

Carlyle Lake Rendezvous.

It's only the greatest get together of Compac sailing craft in history! (mainly due to the attendees)

Compac sailors from all corners of the globe assemble in West Marina at the south end of Carlyle Lake in southern Illinois.

For 5 days we rule the lake, sailing rings around all the other lesser "boats", entertaining fishermen with the "Race", and swimming in secluded coves drinking libations.

In the evening, we gather at the docks, praising each others sailing abilities and telling stories of epic journeys.

One evening the fleet will dine at Brez's Restaurant, while other patrons sit in envy as we are clearly the life of the party.

There is also a theme based dinner at the marina where trophies are presented and costumes judged.

It's THE event of the year for all Compac sailors!

Now, if it sounds too good to be true, you'll just have to attend and judge for yourself.

 i dont remember hiring carl to be my "press" guy, but hey if a guy wants to do that good work for free who am i to complain. i understand that you may come down this fall for some sailing, give us a heads up if you do. last saturday sarah and i had a tremendous day (winds 13 to 15 or so) and we averaged about 4.5 knots during our 5 to 6 hour sail. since then it has been still as the grave. similar to this years clr.

we leave for denver on the 1st, return on the 7th, and i have knee surgery on the 9th.

i'll to see how fast the knee heals.
