Mike,

I just noticed the URL in your signature.

The photo labeled "Oops! No not me!" is hillarious.  I've seen photo's of tow vehicles going in following the boat, but never leading the way.  Looks like a pretty new truck.  I've never seen anyone do this live, just photos.

Poor guy probably won't want to show up at that boat ramp for a while.  Maybe with a different truck, a different boat, and a disguise.

I'm sure there was no alcohol involved!  Yea, right!

Ya, I guess that's one way. Think I'll stick with the old fashioned way I'm used to though.

Good one!

I like this so much from curtisv that a little tune is called for.

82 bottles of Beer on the wall.
82 bottles of beer.
Take one down and pass it along,
81 bottles of beer on the wall.
Look at my truck, it looks like my boat
My truck looks like my boat.
Drive her down, see if it floats,
Ani't no Boston~Whaler.
Drive her in see if it floats
Humm, humm, a humm a humm.

Good one skippy. HIGH TIDES?? Never gave that a thought. Don't have tides here in my waters...I see a McGreggor 26 a few docks over.

By the way, that's a nice Boston Whaler Montauk 17. One just like this has been sitting un touched in a barn falling down for 11 years that I know of. It's fitted with a 70 hp O/B I think, a Mercury. I have no idea who owns it. Should I drag her out of the barn before the barn fall in on it?

Yes, this is a classic... if not a hoax it would have actually happened in Marina del Rey, Ca., as evidenced by the sign at the stern of the Sheriff boat and the fact that the "FantaSea One" is moored in the background...  Don't know the details but my bet is that the boat and towing vehicle were left parked at the ramp at low tide, and then the tide came in... (it seems to be close to high tide judging by the markings on the ramp and the pillars from the floating dock). But again, there are those that interpret the image differently and believe that what the two guys at the stern of the boat are doing is to be looking for the towing vehicle...

I can't read the name on the stern of the SHE-RIFF's boat. Too small.

DID YOU GUYS KNOW

If the Control key is held down and the + key is tapped that the print and picture become larger? So the name could be read on the back of the Sheriff's boat?

And if the Control key is held down and the minus key is tapped the print and picture becomes smaller? Back to normal or even less?

I had know idea. Some body on Ford Barn.com posted that.

Skip says with regard to a BW Montauk:   I have no idea who owns it. Should I drag her out of the barn before the barn fall in on it?

You better believe it.  We had a Montauk 17 once, probably the best all around small powerboat we ever owned.  I'd be finding out who doesn't care about that boat anymore and see if I could make a deal.

curtisv

What is the tidal range there?  Looks to me more like someone left the parking brake off.

Brake failure makes sense to me, but why would you leave the truck head to water anyway?  Reminds me of a boat I saw tied off to a mid channel buoy to go fishing. The oil tankers were not amused.

Joseph

Brake failure is a very likely possibility, but the tidal interpretation is, at least in theory, also viable: at the Santa Monica Station (abt 4 miles north of Marina del Rey) the Mean Range is almost 4 ft (http://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/station_info.shtml?stn=9410840%20Santa%20Monica,%20CA).

It's a Ford P-Up Truck. Nothing Fails 'Cept The Nut behind The Wheel.
As we see.

Forget the tide. No nut drives truck first into a boat launch ramp.
It's not called a truck launch ramp.

Snicker skippy.

curtisv

Likely the loose nut that forgot to apply the brake and walked away.

Looks like over 4 feet of water at the front bumper so unless this guy parked at dead low tide and waited 6 hours it isn't likely to be cause the tide came in.  Besides someone would have wanted to use the ramp in that time on a sunny day.
