Folks,

I am going to be trailering my Compac Eclipse from Grand Rapids, Michigan to Isle La Motte, Vermont (Lake Champlain) in August.  I will be spending a week on the Island and hope to sail, sail sail.  I would love to hear from anyone who has sailed Lake Champlain, specifically around the Isle la Motte area.  Any reference material that might be useful, I would gladly appreciate any suggestions.

Sail on,

Allan

Allan,  I Google Mapped it, looks like a beautiful lake. Should be a lot of fun sailing there.  I have to ask though: Michigan and Huron aren't good enough for you??!

Steve,

It's a 10 family member vacation.  If we didn't have the boat, it would be a nice place to visit.  But, I would be silly not to take it.  Of course, my home waters are plentiful and I will sail them the rest of my life.   My wife likes to vacation away from home, however.

Lovely place. Samuel de Champlain is thought to have first landed in the island on July 9 1609.* If you advance your plans for one month you may still be able to repeat his momentous deed exactly 400 years later...
