Hi Shawn,
This is really great tech stuff.  Many many thanks. Capi

On any of the lengths shown for the fwd sheet line, I'd add ten foot [ 10'-0" ] so it is possible to go around the lee side winch and back over to the windward side so one can hang onto the sheet more comfortably. It's nice at times to have enough line to cross the width of the hull.

I agree,  Skip. That's exactly how I sail Koinonia when I'm alone. Actually, I run the sheet around the winch drum and cleat it off on the windward side cleat. When I need to tighten, I do so, belaying pin style- uncleat the line leaving just one turn around the cleat, yank on the sheet while taking up the slack on the cleat, and recleat. It's much easier than it sounds.

Do you know what the weight of the masts are on the "16" & "19?"  I'm 70 years old and would be stepping the mast alone.
Does the mast step set up as a tabernacle?

marc

I've got the mast for my 19 footer in the basement so I was just able to weigh it for you. Without the spreaders, spreader hardware, stays or shrouds, the weight is 30 pounds.

There are methods to raise the mast with winches or leverage that significantly reduce the effort needed.

Do a search, here and on google, on the words "gin pole" and "mast raising system".  You'll find plenty of ideas.
