What Do You Call It?. Sail Terminology.



Clew: Because we have no clue as to where it's going.
Foot: Bottom of sail. Loose footed or rope-in-groove.
Head: Where's your head sailor; up there?
Luff: Luffs are tight to masts or stays.
Leech: Wiggle around like a leach.
Battons: My Brit friend says, Siffies.
