Thought some might like to see some of the additions / customizations that are going on with Miss B.'s restoration.  Since I spend a lot of time at the helm.... why not be comfortable.  Now I just need to find the right helm-seat. I hope to find one that will be comfortable when motor sailing down the intercostal and be a good back support when standing in rough weather.

If any intrest I will continue with pics of some of the other projects as they come to completion.

Looks like a lawn tractor seat from Tractor Supply would be comfy...hey?
Skip. Boy you sure have a nice boat...rather striking from the pics.

Skip,

Great idea on the lawn tractor seat!  I have already measured my lazy boy recliner and it is a "little" too big....

Thanks for the nice words, after almost 20 years of dependable year around service it was time for a face lift.  I miss not taking her out (it has been over a year now) but the drive train and outside of the boat are finished and all I have left is the insides.  I started cutting out part of the starbord side berth for the nav station this week. It is always so difficult to make that first cut that will change her from stock configuration, but have wanted to do this ever since I saw it on the 34 years ago.

I'll post pics as I get further along.

Up-date......  I think this one will be comfy enough and in rough seas it slides back, folds down and acts as a standing back support! New Combing boards are next then I will be ready for that South Florida Loop trip.... If the Lake holds up for me. Projected departure date  Feb 2.

Jim,
I like your seat idea.  I've been thinking about something similar but it would have to be easy to remove so when sailing and the boat keels over I can sit on an angle.  Your seat will be great for motoring.  I just saw a seat at Dicks Sporting Goods today that is actually curved and will conform to the helm seat.  I'm thinking about a creative way to attach it with the same thought that you have -- to add an extra level of comfort. Thanks for sharing your photo.

Steve,
Thanks for the kind words. I find that when under sail I prefer to stand rather than sit and I slide the seat as far aft as possible and the padded roll on the front of the seat gives great back support, but you are right the real comfort is for motoring and light-air or down-wind sailing.

Good luck with your idea of a curved seat, keep us informed of your progress.

How would a fixed seat work when the boat is heeled over?  I find myself scooting over to the high side of the hump when Nomad is on the lean.

Well that is a problem. A angle of the dangle can be highly suspect to brown streaking.
Let see...how 'bout a Gimbel ed seat, errrrrrr thrown?  skip.
