I have two hundred feet of 5/16 chain that sits forward in the chain locker. Approx. 200 lbs..I think. What I would like to know is when I have a full tank of water the bow is down just a slight bit. Is this going to cause me some problem in the future.

No I don't think this fwd weight has much to do with sailing a 27. You want weight up fwd. And your not racing. I think the boat will take it. Not going to break off the bow or anything like that. skip. Chain is good watch for the hot dip galvanize to erode with salt water. skip.

DV,
I agree with Skip, that much weight isn't going to bother your 27 a bit. I use 200' of 5/8" nylon anchor line serged to 20' of chain. We sail in fresh water though that isn't too deep usually. I'd hate to haul that much chain by hand is the only problem I would have unless you have a windlass. Where you sail may be the deciding factor for you.
